    Browse internet without data charges

Over 85% of the world’s population lives in areas with existing cellular coverage, yet only about 30% of the total population accesses the internet. Affordability and awareness are significant barriers to internet adoption for many.

A year ago, Mark Zuckerberg had announced Internet.org, Facebook’s effort to bring affordable internet access to everyone in the world. This would widely cover access to free basic internet services – tools for health, education, jobs and basic communication. In last one year, while working with mobile operators around the world to deliver on this goal, Facebook has already helped 3 million people access the internet who had no access before.

Today, Facebook has introduced the much awaited Internet.org app. With this app, people can browse a set of useful health, employment and local information services without data charges. The app aims to bring more people online and help them discover valuable services they might not have otherwise.

Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg shared on his facebook page,

Today, I’m excited to announce the launch of the Internet.org app in Zambia. Right now, only 15% of people in Zambia have access to the internet. Soon, everyone will be able to use the internet for free to find jobs, get help with reproductive health and other aspects of health, and use tools like Facebook to stay connected with the people they love.

This is a big step forward in achieving the mission of Facebook and Internet.org. We’re looking forward to bringing free basic services to more countries soon.

internet-org-app11The Internet.org app will be available first to Airtel subscribers in Zambia and we’ll continue to improve the experience and roll it out to other parts of the world. Through the Internet.org app, Airtel customers in Zambia will have basic access to:

    AccuWeather
    Airtel
    eZeLibrary
    Facebook
    Facts for Life
    Google Search
    Go Zambia Jobs
    Kokoliko
MAMA (Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action)
    Messenger
    Wikipedia
    WRAPP (Women’s Rights App)
    Zambia uReport
Airtel customers in Zambia can access these services in the Internet.org Android app, at www.internet.org, or within the Facebook for Android app.

Viewtechworld we have separate technology in the world
There are many quite good smartphones out there that lack an external SD card slot. The manufacturers would defend themselves by boasting about it having either Cloud storage service or enough board storage but it always keeps the users wishing for more space. So for such people, there’s a USB specification that expands the memory of your phone called as “USB on the Go (OTG)”. It gives more space by plugging in a flash drive. So, let’s take look at the how you can expand the memory of an “un-expandable” smartphone/tablet.

Procedure to Expand memory of UnExpandable Android Phone:
    1. You will need the USB OTG cable, since you can’t plug in all your Android    devices directly via USB cables. You can get it easily from the market.
    2. So next time if you’re planning a trip, just connect an external flash drive with the OTG USB cable and you can watch the movies, listen songs present on the flash drive etc.
    3. Connect the USB OTG cable into the flash drive and plug it in your phone’s Micro USB. If you’re in LUCK the phone will jump into USB host mode.

    4. Every device as of now does not support the USB OTG functionality. But if your device doesn’t, you can try rooting your device to add support. A very popular app for that Kingo Android Root.

    5. So next time when you buy a smartphone with no expandable memory card slot, make sure that it has a support for USB OTG. Let us know in the comments section if you face any problem in the process of USB OTG

August launch for ISRO’s first defence satellite

GSAT-7 is exclusively meant for the armed forces

In about a month, yet another but far more important Indian satellite for military communication network will be launched from the South American spaceport at Kourou.
GSAT-7 or INSAT-4F is slated for launch on August 30 and is exclusively meant for the armed forces, primarily Indian Navy. From its slot over 74 degrees East longitude, it is said to boost the naval arm’s strategic communication strengths across warships in Indian waters and their commands — but that is about all we may know for now about the first Indian military-only communication spacecraft.
“With GSAT-7 you will see a sea change in communication over the region,” an official recently told The Hindu, playing on the word.
The spacecraft was earlier meant to be launched on the indigenous GSLV but that programme is not fully ready: the first resumed GSLV using the Indian cryogenic stage is slated to fly on August 19 after nearly three years.

    BLOCKING CAPACITY

Traditionally, the INSAT communication satellites met the needs of the defence forces by blocking a small part of their transponder capacity for secure communications. In recent years, the armed forces have been demanding special satellites and a larger share of space for themselves as part of national defence.
ISRO on its own PSLVs has put in orbit three earth observation satellites. Its remote sensing satellites RISAT-1 of 2012, TecSAR of 2009 and TES of 2001 have carried extremely sharp view cameras to spot people and objects from heights of around 700 km.
The agency has never admitted the military functions, merely describing these satellites as multi-purpose.
The 2,550-kg GSAT-7 is undergoing preliminary checks at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou. It carries multiple bands in ultra high frequency, S band, C band and the higher Ku band, says ISRO’s website.
GSAT-7 will be flown on Arianespace’s Ariane 5 launcher VA215, according to the European company that has rolled out its next campaign after Friday’s launch.Arianespace said it has got the 10-tonne lifter ready to take in GSAT-7 and its co-passenger, the 6-tonne broadcast satellite Eutelsat 25B/Es’hail 1 for Qatar Satellite Company.
As for ISRO, the GSAT-7 launch will briefly bring the curtains down on two unprecedented and hectic months of having launched four diverse satellites. Come October, it will have to hoist its milestone Mars Orbiter Mission all the way across 400 million km over nine months.

    GSLV D5 LAUNCH POSTPONED

GSLV D5 LAUNCH HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO NEXT MONTH DUE TO FUEL LEAKAGE

    Sunday 18 August 2013

    GSLV-D5

Indian space science is waiting at the threshold of a new phase of mega satellite launches and exploration as the countdown for the GSLV-D5 rocket launch began at 11.50am on Sunday. Twenty-nine hours later, at 4.50pm on Monday, the rocket carrying telecommunication satellite GSAT-14 will lift off from Sriharikota, 100km north of Chennai.

GSAT-14, which weighs 1,982kg, will be used for telecast and telecommunication.

What makes the launch crucial for the nation is the use of an indigenous cryogenic engine as the upper stage. The first attempt to use an indigenous cryogenic engine on April 15, 2010 to power GSLV-D3 was a failure. With only one more Russian cryogenic engine left in the Isro arsenal, success of the indigenous technology using oxygen and hydrogen in extreme low temperatures as the fuel will propel several big ticket future missions including a manned project to space.

Isro senior scientists led by chairman K Radhakrishnan are monitoring GSLV-D5, whose strap-boosters started getting fuelled soon after the countdown. Liquid propellants are being filled into the second stage. Liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, which fuel the cryogenic engine will be filled around 9am on Monday. Scientists at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre told TOI that the rocket's health and weather conditions were fine.

India needs cryogenic engines to launch GSLVs that can carry payloads weighing more than three tonnes, which hold the key to future of telecommunication and space exploration. GSLV-D5 weighs 414 tonnes.

Since 1994, India has had 23 consecutive successes with the Polar Sateliite Launch Vehicles (PSLVs), an improvised version of which was used for Chandrayaan-1 in August 2009. However, PSLVs can carry only payloads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes to a geosynchronous transfer orbit (a highly elliptical orbit with the nearest point to earch about 200km and the farthest 42,00km) , and up to 3.5 tonnes to a low earth orbit of about 200km from earth. GSLV can carry payloads weighing 2.5 tonnes to a geosynchronous transfer orbit, and up to 5 tonnes to a low earth orbit.

    AGNI MISSILE SYSTEM

The Agni-II is a medium range ballistic missile (MRBM) with two solid fuel stages and a Post Boost Vehicle (PB V) integrated into the missile's Re-entry Vehicle (RBV) The Agni's maneuvering RV is made of a carbon-carbon composite The Agni-ILIA is a more advanced version of Agni-II, albeit with more sophisticated and lighter materials, yielding a better range and operating regime On 17 May 2010, the trial was conducted with a special strategic command force (SSC) of nuclear-capable Agni-II ballistic missile, with a range of 2,000 kilometers from the Wheeler's Island off Orissa coast thus making Agni-II missile operational by army.

    Role of electronics.

everything that surrounds us has direct link to Electronics, from the very computers we use whether it be laptops, netbooks or notebooks which has millions of tiny electronic components on it like resistors, inductors, capacitors, logic gates and the likes to the calculators, appliances, gizmos, measuring devices, and gadgets to name just a few. Electronics truly molded our lives we have today, for without it, we might as well grimacing in the shackles of underdevelopment and stagnant society where progress is hardly felt as if we are in an isolated islands. Electronics is the barometer of how far humans have gone through if we use the advancement in technology as a yardstick of progress. The dawn of the new wave of the future is bound to fascinate the world once again, the microchips which houses thousands to several millions of semiconductor components that makes our computers do their functions and features is expected to undergo major transformation in the near future. The nano technology, will soon sweep the world and will soon break barriers between possible and impossible, the author of this hub will soon make a hub about this spectacular technology that deals with microscopic objects

I think people will probably read too much into it (note that it was the analyst who laughed first, and laughter is contagious). I think Musk is sincere when he says that it's a good thing and that he hopes BMW keeps improving. After all, his stated goal with Tesla is to catalyze the industry, so he wants other companies to also make good EVs (there are easier ways to make money than to start a new car company and try to convince people to buy electric cars...). That's why he also partners with companies like Toyota and Daimler.
I think BMW's main problem with the i3 is that they caught a case of 'conceptcaritis'. If they had made an EV, built from the ground up to be electric, but that looked a bit more like a BMW 1 series or 3 series, or even like it does now but with fewer funky touches, I think it would feel more mainstream and less like a concept car. After all, the Tesla Model S, despite all its innovations, wouldn't look out of place parked next to most other cars in its price range.

    Sound Into Electrical Energy

The future, you could charge your cell phone just by chatting.
Researchers at South Korea’s Sungkyunkwan University have developed a new technology that converts soundwaves into electrical energy, The Telegraph reports. With the sound-harvesting tech, batteries could be charged by everything from the human voice and music to the sound of highway traffic.

Researcher Dr. Sang-Woo Kim said, “The sound that always exists in our everyday life and environments has been overlooked as a source. This motivated us to realise power generation by turning sound energy from speech, music or noise into electrical power.”

PHOTOVOLTAIC HOUSE BUILT IN JUST 11 DAYS.!!!!!

    LIGHT HOUSE.....

This is a 75 square meter glass structure, and its roof  is covered with photo voltaic panels, demonstrates that its possible to draw nearly all the power needed for heating a building-as well as charging an electric             vehicle from the sun.The structure, built in just 11 days by a team of university students from Rhone apple,France, represent the top two floors of an imagined "nano tower" that would house several families and provided both private and common spaces. It beat out houses built by 17 other student team from around the world to win the solar decathlon Europe 2012 competition held in September..........
